Chef Jonathan Chodosh

Chef Jonathan Chodosh, Owner

People should be able to break bread at the same table, regardless of dietary customs or restrictions.

Chef Jonathan Chodosh found his love of food when he was around 8 years old, in sharing the kitchen with his mother. Through her Moroccan Israeli heritage and shared love of food, he learned how to mix spices, create doughs, and to combine expected and unexpected ingredients. His artistry and passion led to studying culinary science at Drexel University, where Chef Jonathan specialized in making exotic and traditional foods for the modern palate.
As an Orthodox Jew, Chef Jonathan has always needed to balance his love for cuisine with his religious observance, and has learned creative ways to substitute classic ingredients for the kosher consumer. He believes that kosher food should be wholesome, delicious, and accessible.
A La Karte is the culmination of Chef Jonathan's dedication to the power of a shared meal. From the Shabbos store, where customers can enjoy freshly baked pretzel challah and other traditional Jewish foods, to A La Karte's execution of high-end, gourmet events, Jonathan's ingenuity is a testament to his nearly two decades in the food industry. Chef Jonathan knows that food is better when it's eaten together, and has grown A La Karte Catering and Market with meaningful customer relationships, integrity and quality of ingredients, and excellence in customer service.
